Who is it a good fit for?

  • Retrofit buyers with a serviceable cylinder — the unit-only option connects to almost any existing hot water cylinder.
  • Solar PV homes — Solar Boost mode absorbs excess generation before it exports to the grid.
  • Cold climate homes — CO₂ technology operates efficiently down to −10°C without a backup element.
  • Large households — the 400L GL cylinder option suits families of 5 or more, with 700+ litres of hot water per day capacity.
  • Eco-conscious buyers — CO₂ refrigerant has a GWP of 1, the lowest of any heat pump on the market.

What owners say

Kate Hall (Ethically Kate), wearing read jacket and black leggings leans against her hot water heat compressor while smiling.
It's basically halved our hot water power usage! The noise is waaay less than I expected. It's been EPIC. We were recommended Mainly Gas & Plumbing - they were an incredibly lovely team and we loved the more sustainable CO2.

Review

Performance & efficiency:

Reclaim’s CO₂ split system is one of the most capable heat pump hot water systems available in New Zealand. The CO₂ refrigerant (R744, GWP of 1) combined with a Japanese Chofu compressor and Australian-made controller makes this a genuinely premium eco choice.

A COP of 5.0 at 20°C ambient, efficient operation down to −10°C, and a 90°C maximum water temperature put it ahead of most competitors on raw performance.

Features:

  • The split system design: is a key practical advantage: the outdoor compressor connects to almost any hot water cylinder, indoor or outdoor. That makes it an excellent retrofit option — you may be able to keep your existing cylinder and just add the heat pump unit.
  • Consolidated Energy offer the unit standalone or paired with 315L or 400L glass-lined cylinders, or a 300L custom duplex stainless steel cylinder with 3 kW backup element.
  • Solar PV integration is strong: the smart controller supports Solar Boost mode and off-peak scheduling, effectively using the system as a 3–4 kWh thermal battery for your solar generation.
  • Warranty is 10 years parts and labour: on the heat pump and controller — among the best in the market. Tank warranty varies by cylinder type: 10 years parts / 5 years labour on GL tanks; 15 years parts / 5 years labour on stainless steel.
