Who is it a good fit for?

  • Solar PV homes wanting intelligent self-consumption — SmartHQ Solar PV mode actively maximises solar use.
  • Buyers who value F&P service network backing — nationwide Fisher & Paykel service support.
  • Small households (200L) — compact model from $5,000.
  • Medium families (250L) — mid-range capacity with same low 0.43kW input.
  • Large households with moderate usage (330L) — 330L tank with faster 57 L/hr recovery.
  • Budget-conscious buyers — 200L from $5,000 is among the most affordable.

What owners say

One of the reasons we purchased this particular heat pump hot water cylinder was that it is very quiet. We are saving between $50-60 per month on our energy use, as a household of 5. The only downside coming from gas is that we have to manage usage, even though I installed a 330l cylinder.

Review

Performance & efficiency:

The 200L and 250L share the same low 0.43kW input - among the lowest in the market and ideal for solar pairing, but may impact durability over the longer term for higher water users. The 330L uses a larger compressor (0.7kW/2.8kW) for faster recovery. The triple-layer enamel tank provides excellent corrosion resistance.

Features:

  • The SmartHQ app: with dedicated Solar PV mode is a standout, it actively maximises self-consumption of solar generation rather than just running on a timer.

Note the relatively slow recovery rates (35–36 L/hr for smaller models) — adequate for steady use but may lag behind if multiple showers run back-to-back. For larger households with higher usage consider the split system as an alternative for better recovery.
