Households of any size — pick 215L, 275L, or 340L to match daily hot water demand.

Cold-climate homes — Queenstown, Central Otago — operates efficiently down to −10°C with no backup element.

Noise-sensitive locations — 37 dB(A) is among the quietest heat pump water heaters available.

Smart-home and solar owners — integrated Wi-Fi plus a PV timer to soak up daytime solar.

Performance & efficiency:

The HE-UM60CR Deluxe is Panasonic's CO₂ hot water heat pump for New Zealand homes, available with a 215L, 275L, or 340L tank to suit different household sizes.

All three share the same 6 kW HE-UM60CR head unit, with a COP of 5.03 at NZ mid-season conditions (19°C ambient / 17°C inlet) — an effective hot water cost of about 6.0c per kWh at standard rates. Panasonic also publishes a COP of 6.1 measured at warmer 32.5°C/21°C conditions.

Features:

  • It uses CO₂ (R744) refrigerant: with a GWP of just 1 — the lowest possible — and needs no electric backup element, because CO₂ heat pumps operate efficiently down to −10°C, well below anything NZ throws at them.
  • The split design: places the quiet 37 dB(A) outdoor unit away from bedrooms while the tank sits indoors. Input power is 0.96 kW with a heating capacity of 4.83 kW.
  • The controller has integrated Wi-Fi: for smart control through the Panasonic Comfort Cloud app, with seven operating modes including off-peak and solar (PV) timers.

Choose the 215L tank for medium households, or step up to 275L or 340L for larger families and higher simultaneous demand.
