Performance & efficiency:
The HydraHeat is Rinnai’s premium offering, designed and built in New Zealand. The 150g R290 charge is the lowest of any unit in the market — minimising refrigerant-related environmental risk. COP of 4.7 tested to AS/NZS 5125 at 19°C ambient is a solid, honestly-rated figure.
Features:
- Recovery rate: The 89 L/hr recovery rate is excellent, and the OLED display with six operating modes gives precise control without needing an app.
- Top down heating: allowing quick reheat of an empty tank.
- Design for repairability: designed in NZ specifically to allow easy replacement of key compressor components.
- Install friendly: the unit comes as a separate tank and compressor unit, which can be attached for ease of install onsite.
- Cold Climate: The −10°C operating range covers even the coldest NZ locations.
The pricing reflects the premium NZ-made positioning - these are the most expensive integrated units on the market, but you’re paying for local design, manufacturing, high performance and Rinnai’s established NZ service network.

Rinnai New Zealand is the Auckland-based arm of the Japanese Rinnai group and supplies through the mainstream plumbing merchant channel, so the Enviroflo GR and HydraHeat units are widely stocked and readily quoted by installers nationwide. Its after-sales position is the strongest in this category: an authorised service centre network covering fourteen regions across both islands, searchable by product type, with online service booking and a requirement that installation, servicing and repair be carried out only by authorised personnel.
